To operate an ATV in Vermont, operators must be 12 years of age or older. For those younger than 12 years of age, these operators must be riding on land owned by their parents or guardian or must be directly supervised by an adult 18 years or older. Children under the age of 12 are not allowed to operate an ATV with an engine size larger than 70cc. For youth riders under the age of 16, these operators may not drive an ATV with an engine size greater than 90cc.
