About Us:
The Wiregrass Farmers Market (WFM) was founded in the fall of 2011 and is run by a Board of Directors. The WFM is a community-based "producer's market," with the expectation that vendors produce the majority of items they sell. WFM connects farmers and their products directly to customers. The Market has a wide variety of constantly changing products, aligned to the growing season of South Georgia.
The Market has grown tremendously since the beginning and continues to add new vendors and expand educational outreach. Local artisans display and sell their crafts, carefully curated for quality, style and workmanship by the Board of Directors.
Educational outreach includes learning events for children and adults, Canning Club, and presentations at local health fairs and community events. A recreational greenspace at the Market includes a demonstration garden, picnic tables, a community compost bin, and pens for baby farm animals. There is also children's play equipment nearby, making the Market a family friendly destination for Saturday mornings.
We inspire the community to learn about food, farming, cooking, and sustainable lifestyles. WFM workshops and market demonstrations are led by volunteers who give technical assistance and advice on growing, preparing, and preserving food.
