The Wichita Area Treatment, Education & Remediation (WATER) Center opened October 16, 2003. The Center serves as a treatment facility for the Gilbert-Mosley Project, as well as a public education resource.
The remediation system begins with five and one-half miles of conveyance piping and thirteen extraction wells, which extract and convey the polluted groundwater to the WATER Center treatment facility. Once the groundwater reaches the facility, it is cleaned by a hydraulic-venturi air stripper treatment system. This remediation system limits the spread of and removes the groundwater contamination.
The WATER Center treatment facility was designed to encourage public interest in and observation of groundwater remediation. The Center also offers a number variety of education programs
