T.W. Davis Family YMCA

911 Thompson Highway
281-341-0791

Of the nine YMCAs named for persons or families, perhaps the name least well known in our Houston YMCA Association is Thomas Walter “Bud” Davis or T.W. Davis. Bud Davis lived from 1879 to 1922, and was a respected cattleman and businessman in Richmond. He passed away at the early age of 43 from tuberculosis. He also was the brother of Mary Elizabeth “Mamie” Davis George whose legacy, along with that of her husband Albert, eventually became the George Foundation, serving Ft. Bend County. Bud Davis also was an athlete, which led to the naming of the Recreation Complex completed in Richmond in 1980 as the T.W. Davis Memorial Fieldhouse. This Complex merged with the Houston YMCA in 1987 and became the T.W. Davis Family YMCA. Programs offered today are Youth Sports, Afterschool Care, Summer Day Camp, Seniors, Childwatch, Swim Lessons, Outreach Sites, Informal Education, Teen Programs, and Wellness Programs.
