Pomeroy and Newark Rail Trail

The Pomeroy and Newark Rail Trail, a sister trail to the James F. Hall Trail that opened in 2003 and received National Recreation Trail designation in 2010, provides a crucial connection between Newark's central business district, city parks, the University of Delaware, and White Clay Creek State Park. One million people live within 20 miles of the trail, from families who want to take a trip to the park to hikers, joggers, and mountain bikers to students who want to get to class on time. The 4.18-mile trail improves pedestrian safety and mobility, promotes cycling and non-motorized transportation, relieves traffic congestion, encourages physical fitness, and provides a diverse experience from the heart of Newark’s business district to the White Clay Creek State Park.
