Pick-a-Pumpkin Patch

2716 Creek Road
518-868-4893

About Us:

Jim and Lois VanDerwerken bought the farm that became the Pumpkin Patch in 1955. It was originally a dairy and the barn and house were constructed in 1852. Over the years they also sold Holstein heifers and raised vegetable crops. Jim and Lois raised their eight children on the farm. Lois continues to live in the white house all year. Now their grandchildren and great-grandchildren love to come to the farm during the year to work and visit. In the 1980s they grew pumpkins for a local grocery store chain. In 1985 a surplus of pumpkins helped them decide to open their "pick your own" operation. During the past 30 years the Pumpkin Patch has expanded its operation. A picture of how the farm used to look before it was the Pumpkin Patch can be found in the Farm Market at the top of the hill. Our goal has always been to provide an affordable, fun farm experience for families. We are thrilled to have second and third generation customers now. We appreciate your continued support of our business.
