Oscar Perez Memorial Park

Oscar Perez Memorial Park officially opened to the public on Saturday, July 8, 2006. The 17-acre property was purchased by the City of San Antonio in 2001. The park included a pavilion, playground, skate plaza, a half mile of walking trail, landscaping, irrigation, parking, signage, a portable toilet enclosure, and solar lighting, in addition to sports fields that include a softball practice field, a soccer/football practice field and a general practice area.

The park was funded with 2003 park Bonds and Unified Development Code Fees for a total of $699,471.

The park was named for San Antonio Police Officer Oscar Perez, who was slain in the line of duty on March 24, 2000, at the age of 31. A six-year veteran, Officer Perez left behind his wife Lisa and three sons.
