MacGregor Ranch Museum

To continue operation of the MacGregor Ranch as a high mountain historic working cattle ranch and to support youth education. This mission will be carried out by maintaining the presence of a cattle and horse herd, preservation and interpretation of historic buildings and educational tours. The focus of the Ranch will be on quality experiences through respect for the land, the ranch and its history - For the future generations of tomorrow's leaders.

The museum is open to the public only during the summer months, Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00am-4:00pm. The cost of admission is $5 for adults and children under 18 are free. The museum is open to school and youth groups by appointment throughout the year.

The main ranch house now serves as a museum, displaying the original furnishings and personal memorabilia of three generations of the MacGregor family. Visitors to the museum can take a guided tour of the 1896 ranch house and a self-guided tour of the historic outbuildings, including a milk house, root cellar, smokehouse, blacksmith shop, and antique farm equipment yard. Visitors see family clothing and handcrafts, household furnishings, original oil paintings, rock and mineral collections, personal diaries, books and early historic photographs. At the museum trained guides share Colorado homesteading history. Visitors include nearly 5,000 school children each year and over 3,000-summer tourists and local visitors. School groups also come to the Ranch for hiking, camping, wagon rides and tours of the Nature Center.
