About Us:

The picture on the left was taken during a Whitewater class at Rochester Canoe and Kayak Park. Rochester School for the Deaf students can walk to the Kayak course in less than five minutes. Monica (background) is one of many of the Schools students that enjoy the Whitewater course each year. Kayaking in a featured part of their Physical Education programs. Art is shown leading the class and as always he is enjoying himself.

Art retired from Eastman Kodak in 1999 after a 31 year career specializing in specializing Kodachrome and Motion Picture products. He graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Degree in Photo Science.

Each year Kayak Adventures provides Free Instruction for Inter City Kids at Ave D and Eddgerton Rec Center. Annually the number of kids that experience Kayaking at the Rec Center pools and on the River at Rock Park has grown substantially. The photo on our right is from Ave D Recreation Center located near Rock Park. The kids there are usually between the ages of 5 and 10. It takes some doing but they learn that kayaking can be a lot of fun. This year we expect to have over 200 kids. They learn about paddling, safety, protecting the environment and teamwork.

Art now spends his time teaching and promoting the sport of Kayaking for the Youth in upstate New York. Assignments include programs at Cornell University, Hobart College, University of Rochester, Monroe Community College, Rochester School for the Deaf, Rush Henrietta High School, Pittsford Central School, Penn Yan Central School, Brighton High School and currently on Staff teaching Kayaking at Rochester
Institute of Technology.

Art is a ACA Certified Whitewater Instructor, Certified USACK Junior Olympic Development Coach and Junior Olympic Team Coach and is Certified by both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts as a Merit Badge Councilor. He is certified in River Rescue and holds certifications in Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR and First aid.

Art was the Head Coach of the Cascade Falls Whitewater Slalom team and has developed a number of students that have been very competitive Nationally.
