Grant Skate Park

9th Street and Columbus Drive

The Chicago Park District has transformed 1.86 acres of open space at the southwest corner of Grant Park into a new recreational space and invested $2.724M dollars toward the development of this new area. Site improvements include an outdoor programmable event/art exhibition space that also offers multi-use recreation, which includes wheel-friendly elements for scooters, rollerblades, skate boards and BMX bikes. Additional design elements include: multi-skill level concrete ramps, planters and flatwork with decorative staining, metal coping, grinding rails and handrails; pedestrian lighting, ornamental and granite block benches, drinking fountain, drainage structures, infiltration areas, ornamental fencing, native landscape plantings and other site amenities.
