Fort Foster Beach

Fort Foster Park, 76 Pocahontas Rd

Fort Foster was originally built in the early 1900’s and was an active fortress manned during World War II. It is now owned and operated by the town of Kittery as a public recreation, picnic and beach facility. Fort Foster offers views of Whaleback Light, Portsmouth Harbor Light and Fort Constitution; explore the extensive trail system and old military fortifications. Leashed dogs are allowed, just make sure to obey the signs. Fort Foster is located on Pocahontas Road on Gerrish Island in Kittery Point. Open weekends in May and September and seven days a week between Memorial Day and Labor Day. A gate fee is charged.
