Cheyenne State Recreation Area

Cheyenne is a small state recreation area with a 15-acre pond near the community of Wood River. The area offers fishing, camping and picnicking. There are no designated campsites, though tent campers are welcome. Fishing and boating are also permitted.

Attractions

Fishing
Anglers will find bluegill, common carp, channel catfish, largemouth bass and yellow perch in Cheyenne’s well-stocked lake.

Boating
The pond at Cheyenne is no-wake, so only electric motor and non-powered boats are permitted. There are no ramps or docks.

Picnicking
Cheyenne offers eight picnic tables, six grills and three picnic shelters.

Camping

Primitive camping
Cheyenne does not have designated camp sites, but it does offer visitors space for about eight tents, as well as modern restrooms and water.
