History

When Giff saw Butternut Farm for the first time he knew it was the perfect place for us. We had spent the last seven years in Sodus, NY working on Giff's family fruit farm. It seemed time for us to venture out on our own.

Giff and I had both attended 4 years at The University of New Hampshire, where we met. He finished with a degree in horticulture and agronomy and I finish with a Communication degree. We loved this area and knew it would offer us everything we were looking for. We moved to New Hampshire in May of 2004 and spent the year of transition working outside of the farming industry. Giff spent a lot of his extra time here helping, and we took our two girls to pick almost every weekend. The farm transferred to us in January 2005 and we moved in two weeks later.

Since we have moved to the farm we have planted sweet cherries which are starting to produce fruit. We are also planting more strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, peaches and apples. These planting are not only to replace older, tired plants but also to provide more produce to our customers.

We are heading into our nineth season here.  We now are raising three daughters and continue to love the lifestyle farming offers. As the years go by we feel more confident in our goals here and look forward to many years of providing a great place for customers to come and pick their fresh fruit. Thank you to all of our customers who continue to support us and enjoy what we do here.
