Our History

The Bensenville Park District has been in existence since August 27, 1960. It began with one swimming pool, six neighborhood parks and a Locomotive No. 18 that was donated from the Bensenville Village Board of Trustees.

The Park District purchased the White Pines Golf Course in 1967. White Pines was renovated in 1976. The existing club house that was built in 1979 has a banquet facility, a grill restaurant, locker rooms and offices.

In 1985, the Park District’s Bensenville Water Park opened complete with a 12.5 foot diving well with two one-meter boards and a three-meter high dive, a water slide, a wading pool with animal sprinklers, a concession stand, a sand volleyball court and locker room facilities. Today, the water park is adjacent to the new 2,527 square foot splash pad that was completed for community use in the 2013 pool season.

The Deer Grove Leisure Center was built in 1989. The Leisure Center has a state of the art weight room, a full size gymnasium, an indoor track, three racquetball courts and is the location of many of the programs and events offered by the Park District. The Park District’s administrative offices are located at the Deer Grove Leisure Center. Today the Park District has 14 parks totaling 65.5 acres, not including White Pines Golf Club & Banquets.
