Some hunting regulations in New Mexico vary depending on what animal you intend to hunt. Overall, it is unlawful to recklessly use firearms and huntunder the influence of drugs and alcohol. No one is allowed to hunt protected species without a proper permit. It is unlawful to hunt using another person's permit, stamp or license. Hunters are not allowed to kill more than one elk, pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, javelin, bear, oryx, ibex, or deer during the same license year, unless permitted by rule.
